About

Joseph Fluckiger

I’m Joseph Fluckiger, a principal software engineer in Austin, Texas with 25 years of building things that other engineers rely on.

I architected TraceFinder, the software used to drug-test Olympic athletes in every Olympics since London 2012. At Salesforce, I built HammerHead, a CI/CD pipeline adopted by 45 teams and 1,000+ engineers, and led the containerization of Tableau Bridge for enterprise Kubernetes deployments. Most recently at Kizen, I designed a multi-agent orchestration framework where AI agents coordinate to autonomously take development tasks from ticket to pull request.

These days I’m focused on agentic engineering — designing the constraints, orchestration, and tooling that let AI agents ship real work. I’m an active member of the Austin AI Middleware Users Group, and I’ve presented at AWS re:Invent alongside the CTO of MongoDB.

Outside the Editor

I live with my fam, including four kids and our dog Luna. I’ve broken three bones on a bike and still clip in every weekend — I ride with the Austin Breakfast Club and race on Zwift. I ran the Boston Marathon, love backpacking, and am slowly accepting that I’ll never be great at pickleball.

Cranking out Good Code

I write about developer tooling, agentic AI, and the craft of building systems at scale — with the occasional detour into whatever I can’t stop thinking about.
